Lab

We develop digital services with organizations, using data and AI in the services and in how we build them.

Research from inside the work

How does an AI system become part of everyday operations? Who decides what, and what do people need to learn? Building a system gives us a way to examine these questions as the work changes.

Build
Develop a working system around a problem in the organization.
Deploy
Put it into use with the people whose work it affects.
Study
Follow what happens through fieldwork and evaluation.
Teach
Bring the questions and methods into courses where students build and test their own ideas.

Doctoral research

I provide day-to-day research advising and work closely with doctoral researchers in the lab. Prof. Gerhard Satzger provides formal doctoral supervision for the projects below.

A system we learn from

InnoCompass helps early-stage founders structure their venture and examine the assumptions behind it. We use it in KIT coaching formats and as an instrument for studying entrepreneurial judgment.

At KIT

I lead the Digital Service Design & Innovation Lab at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, within the DSI-WI4 team. Our research connects service innovation, data ecosystems, and the organization of human–AI work.
